Inside WA's juvenile justice system

In an adult jail in Western Australia, children and teenagers are locked up in their cells, it's claimed, for up to 20 hours a day. It's been like this for the last seven months. They were moved there after a riot at the state's only juvenile justice centre.

Western Australia has the unenviable reputation for one of the highest rates of youth incarceration in the country only beaten by the Northern Territory.

And since January, the state's detainees have been locked up in an adult prison after a riot at their juvenile justice centre. Ryan Emery reports in this special two-part series into the state's youth justice system.
