Insurers 'on notice' over north Qld claims

Insurers must fairly address north Queenslanders' insurance claims in the wake of record flooding which devastated homes, farms and businesses.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison says insurance companies are "on notice" as north Queensland rebuilds from recent flooding.

Mr Morrison was asked in parliament on Wednesday by Labor MP Cathy O'Toole whether extra sittings could be held to deal with insurance reform so north Queenslanders could be treated fairly.

"I can assure you that the insurance companies are on notice from our government that they need to address the claims and they need to be standing with the people of north Queensland in the same way that our government is," Mr Morrison said.
