International cricket schedule for 2019-20

The Gabba has reclaimed its status as the venue for Australia's Test opener but there are several breaks with tradition in the 2019-20 international schedule.

AUSTRALIA'S 2019-20 SUMMER OF INTERNATIONAL CRICKET

* Starts on September 29 with a women's T20 at North Sydney Oval, ends on March 20 with a men's ODI at Bellerive.

* The women's T20 World Cup final is at the MCG on March 8. Organisers are hoping for a sold-out crowd that would break the global record for attendance at a women's sporting match.

* Australia's men play six Twenty20s (Oct 27 - Nov 8), a two-Test series against Pakistan (Nov 21- Dec 3), three-Test series against New Zealand (Dec 12 - Jan 7) then three ODIs against New Zealand (March 13-20).

* The two-month break between the trans-Tasman fixtures is because Australia are slated to take part in an ODI tour of India during January.

* Spare a thought for SCG ground staff, already dealing with a bigger workload in the absence of Allianz Stadium. The famed venue is hosting trans-Tasman ODIs on March 13 and 15. It will have to urgently be turned into a football ground for NRL and AFL fixtures.

* New Zealand, having contested the inaugural day-night-Test against Australia, will return to the bright lights in many senses. They play a pink-ball Test in Perth (December 12-16) then Tests at the MCG and SCG. It will be their first Boxing Day Test in Melbourne since 1987.

* Crowd and TV numbers for the Perth Test will be a point of interest. For those watching from Sydney and Melbourne, play could continue until 11.30pm.

* The domestic schedule and dates of tour games will be revealed later.

INTERNATIONAL MEN'S SEASON * T20s v Sri Lanka at Adelaide Oval (Oct 27), Gabba (Oct 30) & MCG (Nov 1). * T20s v Pakistan at SCG (Nov 3), Manuka Oval (Nov 5), Perth Stadium (Nov 8). * Tests v Pakistan at Gabba (Nov 21-25) & Adelaide Oval (Nov 29-Dec 3). * Tests v NZ at Perth Stadium (Dec 12-16), MCG (Dec 26-30) & SCG (Jan 3-7). * ODIs v NZ at SCG (March 13, March 15) and Bellerive (March 20).

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S SEASON * T20s v Sri Lanka at North Sydney Oval (Sept 29, Sept 30, Oct 2). * ODIs v Sti Lanka at Allan Border Field (Oct 5, Oct 7, Oct 9). * T20 tri-series v India & England at Manuka Oval & Junction Oval (Jan 31-Feb 12). * T20 World Cup (Feb 21-March 8).
