International pressure increasing to end child marriage

Child rights groups says up to 10 million girls around the world are forced into marriage before their 18th birthday every year.

That's one every three seconds.

But there are signs of a ramping up in pressure to end child marriage.

The United Nations has recently adopted a resolution condemning the practice and outlined steps to tackle the issue.

Rights group Plan International Australia has welcomed the developments.

Chief executive Ian Wishart spoke with Biwa Kwan about what it means.
