Internet job ads fell 2.8 pct in June

Job advertisements on the internet fell by 2.8 per cent in June to be 23.8 per cent lower than a year earlier.

Job advertisements on the internet fell by 2.8 per cent in June, federal government figures show.

The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations internet vacancy index fell to a seasonally adjusted 59.6 points in the month to be 23.8 per cent lower than a year earlier.

All eight occupational groups monitored by the department fell in June.

The biggest monthly decline was recorded for labourers (down by 6.8 per cent) and machinery operators and drivers (down 5.5 per cent).

Job ads fell in all states and territories in June and over the year, apart from Tasmania.

Ads in the island state rose by 10.3 per cent in June and 1.5 per cent annually.

The Northern Territory saw the biggest fall in June (down 7.2 per cent), while Western Australia posted the largest annual drop (down 41.9 per cent).
