The President of Kiribati is hoping the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth later this month will take action on climate change.

Anote Tong says some communities in his country are in serious trouble, with tides coming in and infrastructure being damaged.

He told Aileen Phillips it's critical the CHOGM meeting looks at ways of helping small island countries like Kiribati to adapt to rising sea levels.
