Iran to issue tourist visas at airports

Iran will issue tourist visas valid for three months directly to travellers arriving at airports.

Iran will issue tourist visas valid for three months to travellers arriving at airports, the Iranian news agency IRNA reports.

Vice president and director of the Tourism Organisation of Iran, Masoud Soltanifar, said the measure would boost tourism and was taken to meet the growing demand of foreign tourists in the last two years.

Last February Iran started to grant tourist visas valid for one month at the country's airports for the first time since the triumph of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

The new three-month visas will be issued to citizens of 190 countries but does not include the United States, the United Kingdom, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Canada, Colombia, India, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Pakistan and Somalia.
