Is now the time for a surplus?

Deloitte partners found that the government would have to find up to $6 billion in cuts to achieve its surplus - but is now really the time for a surplus?

The federal budget announcement due this week should see the government set its ambitious plans to return the budget to a surplus.

But Australia weathered the GCF storm better than many other economies and some economists have questioned if now is the right time.

David Pring, senior partner at Deloitte said ever since the economic stimulus days, the government set its sights on a surplus.
