Ahead of Saturday’s federal election, Northern Territory Senate candidate Nova Peris is making final pitch to voters.

The Indigenous ALP candidate was handpicked in January by former Prime Minister Julia Gillard, who described the selection as a "matter of national significance".

Ms Peris said many voters she had spoken with identified the intervention as a key issue.

The dual Olympian has been vocal in her criticism of Indigenous leader Noel Pearson over his support of the intervention.

"I have a lot of respect for Noel Pearson but at the end of the day, the intervention, how it was done, how it was imposed, how it ripped the heart and soul out of Territory Aboriginal people, was not the right way…”

While Peris said she had received positive feedback on the campaign trail, she wasn’t going to "count her chickens before the eggs hatch."
