Three Islamic schools will retain their federal funding following an education department review.

Malek Fahd in Sydney and the Islamic School of Canberra have already have had their funding revoked over concerns about their financial management and independence.

Education Minister Simon Birmingham on Tuesday revealed the Islamic College of Brisbane, Langford Islamic College in Perth and the Islamic College of Melbourne would continue to receive funding, with a decision yet to be made about the Islamic College of South Australia.
