Isner, Wozniacki to play Auckland tennis

Former champions John Isner and Caroline Wozniacki will warm up for the Australian Open at the next year's Auckland Classic tennis tournament.

Two-time champion John Isner and former world No.1 Caroline Wozniacki are the latest signings confirmed for next year's Auckland Classic tennis tournament.

They will join seven-time grand slam winner Venus Williams and France's former world No.5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at the tournament which runs from January 4-16.

Isner, 30, returns to Auckland in fine form having edged world No.2 Roger Federer en route to a quarter-final appearance at the final Masters event of the season last week in Paris.

It's been another productive year for the American, who has reached two finals, two semi-finals and six quarter-finals to finish the year ranked 11th in the world.

Isner pulled out of this year's tournament, deciding instead to head to Melbourne to prepare for the Australian Open.

Wozniacki, who narrowly lost to Venus Williams in this year's final, is intent on going one better in 2016.

Wozniacki has captured 23 career titles and will look to use the fast courts in Auckland to springboard her return to the world's top 10.
