It's a Booby prize on Biggest Loser

Biggest Loser contestent Craig Booby has shed almost 80 kilograms to win the reality TV competition.

He's still Craig Booby by name but no longer by nature after shedding almost 80 kilograms to win the weight loss series The Biggest Loser: Challenge.

Booby is $75,000 richer and multiple shirt and pants sizes smaller for his incredible effort of losing 43.51 per cent of his body weight on the Network Ten series.

His weight plummeted from 183.4kg to 103.6kg over the course of the reality show, which drew all of its contestants from Ararat in country Victoria.

"I was a 9XL when I entered the show and I got down to an XL for the finale and pant sizes I was 137 (centimetres) and I got down to 92," Booby told AAP.

"I would have been about 12 or 13 years old when I last wore an XL."

He's not only got a new wardrobe, but he's also got a new love.

Booby said since losing the weight he has renewed confidence and self-esteem and he's also now off the market.

"It's someone I've known for quite some time and when I got out of the house, with my new-found confidence, I asked her out," he said.

Booby finished a long way ahead, both in kilos and percentage of weight lost, compared to the three runners-up.

The series is decided on the percentage of weight lost from the time they enter the Big Brother house to be under the guidance of the three trainers, Shannan Ponton, Steve Willis and Michelle Bridges.

Second-placed Toni Stockwell lost 38.41 per cent (dropping from 124.2kg to 76.5kg), Sharon Bassett lost 36.61 per cent (109.8kg to 69.6kg) and Katrina Pianta is 33.41 per cent lighter (131.1kg to 87.3kg).

Booby said his goal was to shed a few more kilos and maintain his weight between 95 and 100kg.

He said he's fortunate that his body has reacted kindly to the dramatic weight loss and there's no need to have an operation to remove excess skin.

He said that may be an issue if his weight drops to 90kg or less.

"My goal is to maintain my weight under a 100 and have a five kilogram buffer zone," he said.

"The skin has actually retracted quite well because I was really worried about that.

"If I got down to 90kg it may be an issue but at this stage I don't need surgery."

He said he intends to pump the bulk of his money into his mortgage and put a few dollars aside to take his niece and nephew to Disneyland "when they're a bit older."

"I'm going through plenty of clothes at the moment and it costs a bit keep up with the wardrobe so I'll have to go shopping as well."

The Biggest Loser contestants also raised $145,000 for the town of Ararat to invest in health-related initiatives.
