Jackie Trad apologises for train delays

Queensland Transport Minister Jackie Trad has apologised to commuters for a points issue that has caused major delays on all Brisbane lines.

Queensland's transport minister has apologised to commuters who have been impacted by major peak-hour delays on all 13 Brisbane rail lines.

Jackie Trad said it was a "large network and on occasion, things go wrong".

"But can I just apologise to all the commuters," she told Seven News on Tuesday.

Train travellers were first informed of the delays about 4.45pm.

Queensland Rail chief executive Nick Easy said a "points issue" at Roma St station about 4.30pm was to blame for the chaos.

"Trains are continuing to run through the CBD, however as QR works to rectify this issue and divert trains around Platform 8 on altered lines, some customers may experience delays between 10-30 minutes," he said in a statement.

"We thank our customers for their patience."

There were initially delays of up to 45 minutes affecting all lines across the city.
