The issue of illicit drugs has again been thrust into the spotlight, with former AFL star Ben Cousins' recent court appearance - and more recently, calls to legalise some drugs.

Former champion jockey Jamie Evans has seen the perils of drug use first hand.

He lost a fortune, his family and for a while, his sanity in the grips of chronic alcohol and heroin addiction.

His story touches on suicide, addiction, detox and the redemption of a man now devoted to sharing his experience.
