Japan extends lead at The Queens matchplay

Australia finally grabbed a point but it's Japan who are looking like clinching the inaugural Queens Cup matchplay.

AP - Japan have extended their lead at the inaugural Queens Cup matchplay while Australia finally got on the board on day two.

Sarah Kemp and Sarah Jane Smith halved with South Koreans Sung Hyun Park and Min Sun Kim to give the Australian team their first point in the competition.

Australian captain Rachel Hetherington quick to praise what really has been a poor performance from the Australians.

"We got some points on the board today thanks to our double Sarahs and we feel like we played very well," Hetherington said.

Japan picked up where they left off and are still yet to lose a match.

Momoko Ueda and Erina Hara beat In Gee Chun and Sei Young Kim of South Korea 5 and 4 on Saturday as Japan extended its lead after the second round of The Queens match-play tournament.

The Japan LPGA team has 22 points for an eight-point lead over the Korean LPGA, with Europe 14 points behind the leaders in third place.

The tournament concludes on Sunday with the singles matches.
