Japan's Bonin islands shaken by 6.2 quake

An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 has hit to the south of Japan's Bonin islands with no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 has hit 112 km southeast of Japan's Bonin islands, about 1000 km south of the capital Tokyo.

The quake, at a depth of 10 km, hit at 1640 AEDT on Friday, the US Geological Survey says.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
