Java resident describes volcanic ash shower

A resident of the city of Yogyakarta describes some of the effects of the eruption of the Mount Kelud volcano.

Thousands of people on the Indonesian island of Java have been ordered to evacuate after a volcano erupted spectacularly.

The eruption in east Java has hurled red hot ash and rocks over a huge distance, with an ash shower being reported as far as 200 kilometres away.

Luthfan Herdyanto is a resident in the city of Yogyakarta, in central Java.

He described the situation to Santilla Chingaipe.
