JB Hi-Fi is confident its sales will continue to grow, driven by promotions and new tax cuts for small businesses.

The electronics and homewares retailer's total sales rose 8.6 per cent in the three months to March, while like-for-like sales, which excludes the impact of new stores and closures, were up 5.2 per cent.

JB Hi-Fi said the sales growth was pleasing given Easter fell inside this period in 2016.

The company said it has a strong promotional plan for May and June, and newly announced tax incentives for small businesses should also help sales.

JB Hi-Fi confirmed it still expects total sales of around $3.9 billion in 2015/16, up from $3.65 billion in 2014/15, and net profit in the range of 143 million to $147 million, up from the previous year's $136.5 million.

Its shares gained 46 cents, or two per cent, to $23.51.
