Civil rights campaigner Jesse Jackson has visited WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange inside the London embassy where he has been living for over three years.

The American spent over an hour talking to the WikiLeaks founder in the Ecuador Embassy.

Afterwards he said: "800 years after the Magna Carta, freedom of the press is right and detention without charges is wrong."

Mr Assange is wanted for questioning in Sweden over a sex related allegation but says he fears being transferred to the United States over the activities of WikiLeaks.

The Swedish prosecutor has dropped investigations into three of the four allegations after they became time-lapsed but a fourth allegation remains.

A series of human and civil rights campaigners have visited the Australian since he sought refuge inside the embassy.
