Australian canoe slalom star Jessica Fox's bid for a fourth-straight C1 world championship is on track after her progression to the semi-finals.
The two-time Olympic medallist qualified fifth fastest in France on Wednesday, joining younger sister Noemie and compatriot Ros Lawrence in the next stage.
Fox was 4.07 seconds off top qualifier Mallory Franklin of Great Britain.
"I knew the girls had gone quite fast, the times were quite close together and it's a fairly open course, so I tried to attack it a bit more than I would normally do in a qualifying run," Fox said.
"But I'm happy with that, fifth place is where I want to be for now."
A podium would be Fox's second medal of the championships after she teamed up Noemie and the experienced Lawrence to win silver in the C1 teams event.
Fox, from Sydney, has claimed silver and bronze Olympic medals, as well as gold at the past three world championships.
