Ms Rudd she's flattered to be considered a potential candidate but she's spent the morning playing with her daughter and that's where she belongs.

Fairfax Media had reported former prime minister Kevin Rudd sought and received assurances from key powerbrokers to have Jessica anointed as his replacement.

Mr Rudd announced last night he's quitting politics, which will spark a by-election in the inner-Brisbane seat he's held for 15 years.
