Jill Meagher's family look to closure

The family of Jill Meagher say no-one should have to go through what they have endured, and they now hope for closure.

Jill Meagher's family doesn't want anyone to have to endure the trauma they've been through since her rape and murder.

With her killer, Adrian Bayley, now convicted of a further three rapes, they hope to finally get closure.

Jill's father, George McKeon, said the latest convictions show how much the justice system had let them down.

"As a family, we have until now been very mindful not to make any statement or take any actions that might delay the outstanding criminal proceedings against Gillian's murderer," he told AAP in a statement.

"However now that these proceedings are completed, we want to try and obtain closure and to ensure that other families don't have to endure this trauma."

"Nothing can bring back our daughter."

He said the Victorian Parole Board had failed to protect his daughter and many others in the community.

Mr McKeon said his family, along with Ms Meagher's husband Tom, would continue to raise awareness of the systemic problem of violence against women including via the White Ribbon Campaign.

He said the family did not want a proposed coronial inquest into Ms Meagher's death to proceed as they saw little value in it in the wake of amendments to the Corrections Act and the conviction of her killer.
