The number of job advertisements have fallen to the lowest level in four months, indicating hiring is slowing.

Job ads appearing on the internet and in newspapers in February fell 1.2 per cent, compared with January.

Job ads rose 8.2 per cent on the same month a year ago, seasonally adjusted figures from ANZ show.

ANZ chief economist Warren Hogan said while the slump may partly be blamed on heightened business caution amid global market volatility since early 2016, the trend growth of job ads has been declining for six months.

"Overall, the weaker trend in job advertising supports our view that hiring is slowing," he said.
