Job demand eases across the nation

Job advertisements posted on the internet fell 2.2 per cent in July but were still 5.6 per cent up on the year, Department of Employment figures show.

Demand for new workers eased across the nation in July, but job advertisements on the internet were still nearly six per cent higher than a year earlier.

Department of Employment figures released on Wednesday pointed to falls in jobs ads in all states and territories for an overall 2.2 monthly decline.

The only occupational groups to show increases in the month among eight monitored by the department were technicians and trades workers (up 0.5 per cent) and labourers (up 0.2 per cent).
