Job seeker internships before parliament

The federal government has introduced legislation to establish its young jobseeker "prepare, trial, hire" program.

Young job seekers could soon be able to top up their dole payments by $200 each week if they take on an internship with a business.

Government minister Angus Taylor on Thursday introduced to parliament legislation that establishes the "prepare, trial, hire" jobseeker program announced in the May budget.

"These measures will strengthen the business environment and ensure that young job seekers have the capacity, support and incentives to take advantage of new opportunities," he told MPs.
