Johnson fires as WA see off Bulls

Test quick Mitchell Johnson has impressed taking 5-31 as Western Australia defeated Queensland to end their one-day cup campaign on a high note.

Mitchell Johnson has helped Western Australia end a disappointing one-day cup campaign on a high with a 39-run win over Queensland at Drummoyne Oval in Sydney on Wednesday.

Test paceman Johnson, in his just his second outing of the domestic season, ripped through the Queensland top-order taking 5-31 off nine impressive overs.

Johnson took 2-41 on Saturday having been rested for the first four state matches of the summer.

Backed by part-time left-arm spinner Adam Voges (3-20), WA bowled out Queensland for 201 off 47 overs, having made 9-240 from their 50 overs.

The result lifted WA, who won last season's competition, to a second win from their six outings.

Earlier, just two weeks before the first Test against New Zealand, Voges top-scored for WA with 81 off 106 balls.

Fellow Ashes tourist Mitch Marsh made 46, however there were failures for other Test aspirants Shaun Marsh (10) and Cameron Bancroft who was out for a duck.

Queensland rookie Billy Stanlake collected 4-37 for his best career figures.
