Fremantle could recall Michael Johnson and Danyle Pearce for farewell games after coach Ross Lyon confirmed this is their last season at the AFL club.

Johnson has played eight senior games this season, while Pearce has only managed three.

They last played for the Dockers in the round 10 loss to North Melbourne.

"I think it's pretty obvious they're going to exit," Lyon said.

"We did it (a farewell game) with Matthew Pavlich and they've been incredibly good servants for the club.

"Michael Johnson, we could argue, is our greatest Aboriginal player, so that's something we'll get to.

"As a caring football club, that should be on our agenda."

Johnson has played 239 senior games, putting him fifth on Fremantle's all-time list.

Pearce played 154 games for Port Adelaide before joining the Dockers, where he has added 104.

Johnson showed strong form in the WAFL last weekend, but given Fremantle's focus on blooding young players it is unlikely he will return for their Sunday home game against Port Adelaide.

"If we play him and we lose, you (media) blokes will slaughter us, so it's probably unlikely,"' a wry Lyon said.

Andrew Brayshaw's groin injury means Fremantle will make at least one change, but Harley Bennell is unlikely to come into the senior team.

Bennell is closing on his first senior recall after a succession of injuries and well-documented issues off the field.

He has not played in the AFL since last year, when he had two games at the end of the season.

"You're talking about him because we know the potential but, again, I'd like the potential to be delivered over six years and not six weeks," Lyon said.

"We're happy for the noise around Harley and we're happy that we're talking about his football.

"We need to pick him at the right time when he's fit and in form, and there's probably a little bit to go there."
