South Sydney will again be without Alex Johnston, but Dane Nielsen could make his Rabbitohs debut in the NRL match against Brisbane on Friday night.

Alex Johnston won't make his return from injury in South Sydney's NRL clash with Brisbane on Friday night, but Dane Nielsen could make his Rabbitohs debut.

Johnston hasn't played since round one and speculation was rife he could be a surprise return for the crucial round eight clash at Suncorp Stadium. However, he didn't fly with the side to Brisbane on Thursday.

Nielsen did though and he could be a late addition as coach Michael Maguire seeks to spark his inconsistent side.
