Carlton defender Liam Jones can accept a $2000 rough conduct fine for his block on star Richmond forward Jack Riewoldt.

The incident off the ball happened in the second term of Thursday night's AFL season opener at the MCG.

It left Riewoldt on his haunches and briefly needing medical attention, although he recovered quickly and played out the game.

The contact was assessed as intentional and low impact.

It was the only charge laid after the Tigers' 33-point win.
