Judy Davis misses out on Emmy Award

Nicole Kidman, Geoffrey Rush, Bruna Papandrea and Kate Dennis are also up for Emmys later in the ceremony

Australian acting great Judy Davis has missed out on the Emmy for her role as legendary gossip columnist Hedder Hopper in FEUD: Bette and Joan.

The Emmy for supporting actress in a TV mini-series went to Laura Dern for Big Little Lies at Sunday's ceremony underway in Los Angeles.

It is a good sign for Nicole Kidman who is up for two Emmys for Big Little Lies later in the ceremony, best actress and as a producer if the comedy-drama wins best mini-series.
