The judge in the case of a young Cairns couple charged over a home abortion will address the jury today, before it retires to consider a verdict.
The lawyer for the couple pleaded with jurors yesterday to end the nightmare endured by his clients, AAP reported.
In an impassioned address, barrister Kevin McCreanor urged the jury to find 21-year-old Tegan Simone Leach and her boyfriend Sergie Brennan not guilty.

The couple had drugs, including RU486, sent from overseas, the ABC reported the court as hearing.
Mr McCreanor took aim at Queensland's 110-year-old criminal code which makes abortion illegal except to protect the mother's life or wellbeing, saying the law was drafted when women had few rights and the concept of a safe abortion was unknown.
The prosecutor, however, told the jury that if they disagree with the abortion laws in the state, then they should do so at the ballot box, and not in the court room, the ABC reported.
The case has reignted the debate about the controversial law in Queensland, with the Greens and influential lobby group GetUP! becoming involved.
