Following a seven-month hiatus away from the public eye, Karl Stefanovic has hit the annual Logie Awards red carpet refreshed and "raring to go" after he was unceremoniously axed from The Today Show last year.

The former breakfast host has relished the break after the early morning starts and rigorous work schedule had caused him to burn out.

"Sometimes we push and we push and we push and we don't know how tired we are," Stefanovic told reporters."

"For the first part of the year for me it was nice not to do anything, I really needed it after a long time .... now i'm ready and raring to go."

Stefanovic was not accompanied at the ceremony by his new wife Jasmine who is busy in Europe with her fashion business.

His appearance at TV's night of nights comes after rumours he was banned following his ousting from Today, but he was quick to quash any bad blood talking up his second series of This Time Next Year with Nine, which will air in August.

"It's been an amazing gig to work on, people have done some incredible things that have really put things in perspective for me," he said.

And the former early morning riser had no complaints about his new start time.

"Yeah it's nice to sleep in especially tonight, it'll be a big one tonight."
