Kate Ceberano scoops AM honour

Singer-songwriter Kate Ceberano has been appointed an AM, and Amanda Keller and Frankie J Holden have been awarded the OAM.

Kate Ceberano has one wish: that her grandparents could be alive to see her scoop a Queen's Birthday honour.

The singer-songwriter, who's notched up a 24-album career, has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her services to music and charities.

"I'm thrilled and my grandparents would be so thrilled," she said.

"They loved and supported music and art and they lived a highly poetic life and enabled us to live very poetic lives as well.

"I wish they were still alive so they could've seen this."

Fellow entertainer Frankie J Holden was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to entertainment and the community.

"It's a great honour and also very humbling to think that other people think I'm worthy," he said.

Versatility was key to his 41-year career, he said, from his 1970s rock 'n' roll band Ol'55 to film, theatre and TV acting and presenting.

"Now I look back on it, it's quite a body of work and I think I've met every person in Australia," he joked.

Holden was also involved in a fight to save the Pambula Hospital in regional NSW.

"That's probably the thing I'm proudest of, actually, the recognition, of not just me, but the whole community, of getting things done."

Radio and TV host Amanda Keller also collected an OAM for services to broadcast media and the community.

"It's still sinking in, I'm so thrilled," she said.

She said a career highlight was hosting her radio show with Andrew Denton the morning after September, 11, 2001.

"That day on air for me was the most extraordinary moment I've ever had in the media."
