Robbie Katter says he would be a better Queensland premier than Opposition Leader Tim Nicholls and has taken aim at his lack of consultation and collaboration with crossbenchers.

The Katter's Australian Party MP has led an influential crossbench in state parliament over the last three years to work both with and against Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk's minority Labor government.

But Mr Katter said it was a "bad sign" Mr Nicholls, who ousted Lawrence Springborg as Liberal National Party leader last year, was cooperating with the cross-bench far less than his predecessor.

"I think I could do a much better job as premier," the Mt Isa-based MP told ABC radio on Friday.

"We have found since Lawrence Springborg left the LNP there's been a lot less consultation and willingness to work on the cross-bench and that's disappointing to me."

Mr Katter said there was growing "discontent" with the major parties among voters that was increasing the popularity of KAP, independents and One Nation.

"The political system is not delivering, people are hating politicians more and more," he said.

Mr Katter, the KAP state leader, hoped his party can win five seats in the November 25 state election.

They currently hold two seats, with himself and Dalrymple MP Shane Knuth, but Mr Knuth has been disadvantaged by a major boundary redistribution which has basically forced him into a different electorate.
