Australian teenager Maddison Keeney has sounded her intentions ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games by fighting back to narrowly miss out on a medal in the Rio Games diving test event.
The 19-year-old at one stage was second last in the 12-strong three-metre springboard final at the World Cup event in Brazil.
However, Keeney hit back with three high-scoring dives to finish fourth, just two points behind Canada's bronze medallist Jennifer Abel.
China's Tingmao Shi and Zi He claimed gold and silver respectively.
Keeney fell just short of adding to Australia's Rio haul of two bronze, won by team captain Melissa Wu (10m platform) and 3m synchro duo Esther Qin and Samantha Mills.
"After my second dive, I thought 'well I'm pretty much done for this comp' (so) I just wanted to finish my last three dives as well as I could," Keeney said.
The youngster almost snatched bronze thanks to a final dive that only one other competitor attempts - a high-scoring forward-facing 2.5 somersaults with two twists in a pike position.
"I know I can do it pretty well and that I can get a pretty good score without doing anything too special," Keeney said.
Meanwhile, Australia's Commonwealth Games 10m synchro gold medallist Domonic Bedggood has qualified for the men's platform final in Rio after finishing fifth in the preliminary round.
