Keith Urban announces Australian tour

Keith Urban will open his Get Closer tour in Adelaide on April 8 before performing shows in Melbourne, Tamworth, Sydney and Brisbane.

Keith Urban will begin his world tour in Australia for the first time.

The country star will open his Get Closer tour in Adelaide on April 8 before performing shows in Melbourne, Tamworth, Sydney and Brisbane.

Lady Antebellum will provide support on the Australian leg before the multi-platinum selling artist heads off around the world. It will be the first time Urban has kicked off a world tour in Australia, and it will also be Lady Antebellum's first tour Down Under.

Get Closer has been one of Urban's fastest selling records, reaching gold status in a month.

The Australian singer arrived in Sydney on Sunday with wife Nicole Kidman and their daughter Sunday Rose.

He will stay for a short promotional visit, which will include an appearance on one of two Oprah shows to be taped at the Sydney Opera House.

It will be Urban's second recent appearance on Oprah following his performance of the single Put You In A Song on a US filmed episode, which aired in Australia two weeks ago

Keith Urban's Get Closer 2011 World Tour Australian dates are as follows: Friday, April 8 - Adelaide Entertainment Centre Saturday, April 9 - Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne Tuesday, April 12 - Tamworth Regional Entertainment & Conference Centre Thursday, April 14 - Sydney Entertainment Centre Friday, April 15 - Brisbane Entertainment Centre Tickets for all dates go on sale on Friday, January 21.
