Josh Kelly is a yes, Toby Greene is a no and Shane Mumford is a definite maybe as GWS coach Leon Cameron ponders his selection options for the AFL clash with Richmond.

The Giants will host the Tigers at Giants Stadium on Saturday with both sides looking to improve on 1-1 records and bounce back from a loss.

Kelly hasn't featured at AFL level in the opening two rounds of the season after being slowed by knee and hip surgeries, but is ready to bolster the line-up that suffered a 52-point loss to West Coast.

"We'll definitely be playing Kelly," Cameron told reporters on Tuesday.

"We probably could've played him last week, and he wanted to play, but the high performance guys wanted to spend another session with him.

"We feel as though he's right to go. He'll do another session on Wednesday, and all going well he'll play on the weekend."

Greene was absent from the side that lost to the Eagles and will miss the Tigers match as GWS take a cautious approach with the match-winner's sore calf.

Mumford's surprise return to AFL ranks from retirement stalled when he was handed a club-imposed two-match suspension, applied after video surfaced of him snorting a white substance, allegedly back in 2015.

Cameron is happy with the imposing ruckman's fitness, but has also been pleased with Dawson Simpson's efforts and remains unsure how to proceed with his ruck set-up.

"(Mumford) has played three or four warm-up games and done all of the training so he's ready to play AFL footy but what we've got to determine is if we play Dawson and him," the coach said.

"Or does Shane come in (for Simpson)?

"We've got to work that out.

"I thought Dawson was particularly good around the stoppages (against West Coast) so it's not a lay down misere that Shane's coming in."

In a further boost for GWS, co-captain Callan Ward is progressing well in his recovery from a knee injury and has been pencilled in to play against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium in round four.
