Sydney's The Daily Telegraph says the NSW election campaign is now officially ridiculous.

Premier Kristina Keneally vowed to create a rock commissioner who would attempt to lure international music acts to Sydney.

The rock commissioner would report directly to the premier, who ordinarily might be expected to be busying herself with more important matters.

He would be a one-stop go-to guy for venues such as Olympic Park, Aussie Stadium, the Entertainment Centre and the Domain, cutting red tape for promoters and band management.

"We have seen the success and impact of big events like the Oprah visit," a major events source said.

"We want to translate that to the music scene and make Sydney the region's World Tour Concert Capital."
