The Kenyan parliament has passed an anti-doping bill that ensures the African nation will be allowed to compete at the Rio Olympics.

The long-awaited bill makes it a criminal offence in some cases to use or supply performance-enhancing drugs to athletes.

The bill only requires the signature of President Uhuru Kenyatta to come into force.

"Today is a great day. The Anti-Doping Bill has been passed," sports minister Hassan Wario told the Capital FM radio station.

"Olympics here we come!"
