Queensland will call on the calm head of Bryce Hegarty and the 'best Lucas' brother to halt a run of losses to New South Wales that could hit double figures on Saturday night.
Nine straight Waratahs wins makes tough reading for Reds captain Samu Kerevi, who is well aware of the threats the Tahs' all-Wallabies backline pose.
But the promotion of 20-year-old fullback Isaac Lucas and Waratahs recruit Bryce Hegarty's shift to No.10 is giving Kerevi hope.
"He brings a lot of voice and for me especially a lot of calmness," said Kerevi when describing Hegarty.
"Sometimes we get a bit frantic and that's when we need to just be calm.
"Our minds are moving slow and quick at the same time and I feel like he does that really well."
Lucas, the youngest brother to fellow rugby professionals Tom, Ben and Matt, has earned a start after impressive cameos so far and has the chance at the SCG to prove Kerevi right on Saturday.
"I always knew he was the best Lucas," Kerevi said of the fleet-footed back.
"He just brings something different. The impact he's brought has been great to us and he's getting his opportunity."
The casualty from that swap is Hamish Stewart, who will revert to the bench in what could be viewed as a major setback after the 21-year-old established himself as a starter last season.
"Hamish has got an awesome attitude," Kerevi said.
"It'll probably give him more hunger but he's been doing an awesome job for us and we're just looking for a different dynamic for this week's game."
Kerevi will move to outside centre to accommodate Duncan Paia'aua, who replaces Jordan Petaia after the dynamic attacking weapon suffered a season-ending foot injury last Saturday.
The pair combined well after Petaia limped off against the Crusaders but Kerevi admitted the 18-year-old livewire was someone "you can't replace".
The Reds have leaked two early tries in both their losses this season and the captain knows they must start well on Saturday to be any chance of snapping their losing streak.
