A high-powered US delegation headed by Secretary of State John Kerry and Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel will fly to Australia later this month as part of global trips.
Kerry, Hagel, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey and US Pacific Command commander Admiral Samuel Locklear will be in Sydney for the August 11 to 13 annual Australia-United States Ministerial Consultations (AUSMIN).
They will meet with Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop and Defence Minister David Johnston.
AUSMIN is designed to advance security co-operation between the US and Australia and discuss regional and global issues.
Hagel and Johnston are expected to sign the historic force posture agreement that was first announced by US President Barack Obama and Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott in June.

Kerry will first fly to Myanmar (Burma) to speak with local government leaders and attend the ASEAN Regional Forum and East Asia Summit ministerial meetings.
After Sydney, Kerry will stop in the Solomon Islands to meet government leaders and attend wreath laying ceremonies at the Guadalcanal American Memorial and Solomon Scouts and Coastwatchers Memorial.
Hagel will fly to Germany and India before landing in Sydney.
