Kerry Vincent to front US baking show

An Aussie who has been compared to fiery Brits Gordon Ramsay and Simon Cowell has scored a new reality TV show in the US.

Australia's best known baker has a new gig on US TV.

Kerry Vincent, whose no-nonsense manner and baking talents have made her a star on The Great Australian Bake Off and American show The Food Network Challenge, will be using her talents to save struggling bakeries in the US.

The new show, Save My Bakery, will air in the US on the high-rating Food Network cable TV channel.

Vincent, 68, has been compared to UK reality TV imports Gordon Ramsay and Simon Cowell for her fiery personality.

"For generations, bakeries were the backbone of communities across America," Bob Tuschman, general manager and senior vice president of the Food Network, said.

"Save My Bakery takes on the challenge of rescuing these businesses and the families behind them.

"Kerry Vincent's deep expertise, combined with her take-charge manner, is just what these families need to get back on their feet."

Vincent, who was born in Wyalkatchem, Western Australia, lives in Oklahoma and is the director and co-founder of the Oklahoma Sugar Art Show.
