Key match-ups in Crows-Giants AFL final

Three key match-ups are set to make the difference in Thursday night's AFL qualifying final between Adelaide and Greater Western Sydney.

THREE KEY MATCH-UPS IN THE CROWS-GIANTS QUALIFYING FINAL

* Taylor Walker (Adelaide) v Phil Davis (GWS). Davis had been earmarked to captain the Crows but walked out of Adelaide at the end of the 2011 to join the new Giants. He'll be pitted against Walker, the Crows skipper, in a pivotal duel. Walker's attacking smarts and leadership inspire his teammates and while he's a key scorer, with 49 goals this season, his true value is underlined by being equal-top in the league for goal assists.

* Sam Jacobs (Adelaide) v Shane Mumford (GWS). Jacobs will take the field with a heavy heart after the death of his 31-year-old brother last week from an undisclosed illness. What impact that tragedy has on the ruckman is unknown: distracted or inspired to perform in the memory of his sibling? Jacobs has more hitouts than anyone this season but averages only two more taps a game than the imposing Mumford, whose ability to strike fear into opposition players is almost as valued as his shrewd ruck work.

* Luke Brown (Adelaide) v Toby Greene (GWS). The influence of the controversial Greene on his team can't be understated - his class, poise with the ball and uncanny goal sense is a key facet of GWS's attack. Greene averages about 18 disposals a game and has kicked 41 goals this season but has also been reported five times. The tight-checking Brown is Adelaide's unsung hero, given a weekly task to quell the opposition's best small forward and rarely has his colours lowered.
