A LOOK AT THE KEY TRENDS AT FASHION WEEK IN SYDNEY
MISMATCHED SHOES
A trend that emerged early in the week, when Bec + Bridge sent models down the runway in thigh-high boots in black and white. P.E Nation followed suit an hour later, with models swapping sneakers. The only catch? You'll need to buy two pairs or find a friend with the same shoe size (and taste).
HELLO YELLOW
It appears the bright yellow billboards of billionaire businessman and federal election candidate Clive Palmer have rubbed off on the fashion elite, with the shade a popular choice among the designers for Aje, Tigerlily and We Are Kindred.
THINK PINK
Tigerlily opted for hot pink, Hansen and Gretel for bubblegum, Alice McCall went sherbet and Karla Spetic's baby pink, bondage-inspired threads left little to the imagination. The most popular colour on and off the runway this year, the brightest pink was shown at Lee Matthews, while the most photographed was Jonathan Simkhai's ombre gown, inspired by the sunsets at Bondi.
SHINY HAPPY DRESSES
Super shimmery dresses are coming soon to a party near you. Alice McCall celebrated 15 years of her eponymous label with a collection fit for a birthday girl, while Mariam Seddiq channelled the 1980s with bold shoulder pads and mullet dresses in gold and silver lame.
FASHIONABLY LATE?
The most frustrating trend of the week was the late start times - with many shows running about an hour behind schedule on Monday. Justin Cassin's Luna Park spectacle on Wednesday, however, holds the week's record, with models hitting the catwalk one hour and forty minutes after the scheduled start time of 6pm.
