Kickert free to play despite NBL headbutt

Brisbane forward Daniel Kickert and 36ers coach Joey Wright have been fined for a Twitter spat with Kickert already having to cough up $1000 for a headbutt.

Brisbane forward Daniel Kickert is free to face Adelaide this week despite being sanctioned for headbutting 36ers swingman Anthony Drmic and later sensationally getting fined after a Twitter spat.

The NBL's game review panel has offered Kickert a one-game ban for the incident, which occurred early in the second quarter of Brisbane's 105-87 win over the 36ers in Adelaide on Saturday night.

However, if Kickert submits an early guilty plea, the penalty will be reduced to a fine of $1000 with no suspension - meaning he will be free to play in Thursday's rematch between the sides at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

But Kickert wouldn't let the matter go.

On Monday he wrote on Twitter: "Looking forward to Thursday for our game against the Adelaide Thirty Snitches #dibberdobberswearnappies".

Sixers coach Joey Wright, who had already indicated he was after a harsher penalty responded: "I'm looking forward to playing the Brisbane B ches as well see you Thursday".

The NBL later fined Kickert and Wright $500 for making statements prejudicial to the interests of the NBL.

In the incident that started it all Kickert and Drmic exchanged words after a foul was blown for an illegal screen during Saturday's clash.

Footage appeared to show Kickert initiating contact with his head.

Wright said after that fixture that Kickert shouldn't be around for the re-match.

"You know, if he is (out there on Thursday), I don't know," Wright told News Corp after the match.

"I don't know what's up (with the NBL).

"If he's out there, then it just tells you what's happening with this league.

"I saw it on video."

The Bullets have until Wednesday to respond to the original charge.
