Killed Tas mum's partner thanks public

The father of a baby boy delivered after his mother was killed in a high-speed crash in Hobart has thanked the public for their support.

The partner of a pregnant Hobart mother whose baby was delivered after she died in a high-speed crash with a stolen vehicle has thanked the public for their support.

Sarah Paino, 24, was driving home after dropping her partner Daniel Stirling off to work at a bakery when a stolen car slammed into her sedan in central Hobart early on Friday morning.

It is alleged the stolen SUV failed to stop at an intersection.

Ms Paino, who was 32 weeks pregnant, died at the scene while her two-year-old boy, who was also in the car, survived the crash with minor injuries.

Her baby boy was later delivered by doctors at the Royal Hobart Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

People from around Australia and overseas have donated more than $170,000 to a fund set up for Ms Paino's family.

Mr Stirling on Monday thanked the community for their support and generosity.

"This is a time of conflicting emotions for us as we grieve the loss of Sarah, whilst also welcoming baby Caleb to our family," he said in a statement.

"Every donation has reminded us that we are not alone in our grief ... words cannot express how much this means to us."

Four teens have been charged over the fatal crash.

The 15-year-old driver, who fled the scene of the accident on Friday, was arrested hours later at a house in Kingston and has since been charged with manslaughter and stealing a car.

His three passengers, a boy and two girls aged between 12 and 15, were also arrested at the scene and treated for minor injuries.

Police say they tried to intercept the speeding vehicle twice before the crash after seeing it driving up to 120km/h with its lights off.

But they did not pursue it, as per police policy.

Locals have left floral tributes near the scene of the crash, and more than 150 people attended a candlelight vigil at the crash site on Saturday night.
