South Korean Kim Si-woo became the youngest winner on the US PGA Tour this season when he claimed his maiden title with a commanding five-stroke victory in the regular season finale.
Making his 38th US tour start, 21-year-old Kim carded a closing 67 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro to finish the Wyndham Championship at 21-under-par 259, while Englishman Luke Donald (67) put mediocre recent play behind him to take second place.
Geoff Ogilvy was the leading Australian after shooting a 66 to tie for 22nd at 10 under.
Kim's score of 259 tied the tournament record set eight years ago by Carl Pettersson and he earlier set a tournament single-round record with a 60 in the second round.
He said he played aggressively because he was already in the top 125 on the FedEx Cup points list who progress to the first event of the four-tournament playoffs series this week.
Kim also became the eighth player from South Korea to win on the tour - they've combined for 18 victories - and the second to do so in Greensboro, joining his mentor, 2005 winner K.J. Choi.
Hideki Matsuyama and Brandt Snedeker tied for third, one shot behind Donald.
"He (Kim) looked like he was very much in control of his game, and he was going to be a hard man to catch," Donald said.
Kim had come close to a win once before, losing to Australia's Aaron Baddeley in a playoff last month in Alabama in the Barbasol Championship.
While Kim - who came to Greensboro at No. 43 on the points list - didn't need any help, others certainly did.
Whee Kim, a South Korean player who arrived at No. 125, and No. 124 Matt Jones of Australia both slipped out of the playoff field after missing the cut.
Kyle Stanley and Shawn Stefani both finished 12 under - good enough to put them both in The Barclays. Stanley arrived at No. 127 while Stefani started at No. 133.
