Former NBA star Al Harrington will make the final appearance of his short NBL stint with Sydney in the Kings home game on Thursday against the NZ Breakers.
Harrington was signed by Sydney on a short-term basis to replace former Atlanta Hawks NBA teammate Josh Childress, after he broke his hand.
Childress is expected to be available again after Thursday's game, when he will also complete a two-game suspension for unsportsmanlike behaviour following an altercation with officials after a recent game in Adelaide.
It was speculated Harrington, who played five games for the Kings, might stay on after Childress was available and that Sydney's other import Marcus Thornton could be cut to accommodate him.
However, a club spokesperson told AAP that Harrington needed to return to the United States.

The Kings, who are struggling with a 3-7 record, are hoping to have guard Steve Markovic back on Thursday.
He has been training this week following a debilitating virus which has severely limited his court time in recent weeks.
Sydney will be looking to post successive victories for the first time this season, while the Breakers are after their first road win of the campaign.
They have a 5-0 record at home, but are 0-4 away.
"We've had a couple of close road losses, it's our time," Breakers' coach Dean Vickerman told AAP.
"We've got to start winning on the road right now."
Tai Wesley will miss another game after a recent bout of appendicitis.
"I don't think we've had the same team for any of our nine games, it's been kind of crazy," Vickerman said.
"But it's been good for other people to get good minutes and still be able to get some wins, with not our full roster."
Sydney must find a way to stop the Breakers' Corey Webster, who is averaging a league-best 24 points a game since returning from his trial with NBA club New Orleans.
They may benefit from some inside information from their Tall Blacks swingman Dion Prewster.
"I played with him (Webster) a few years ago in Wellington and I spent the whole summer guarding him in practice before the Oceania series, so I know what he wants to do," Prewster said on the Kings' website,
"It's another thing to stop him of course, but we'll just try and do the best we can."
