Sydney Kings have continued their late-season NBL resurgence by walloping the Perth Wildcats 84-56.
It was the Kings' second upset win over the two-time reigning champions within three days, and threw the fourth-placed Wildcats' sagging title defence into disarray.
Import Perry Ellis (20 points) and Jason Cadee (15 points and six rebounds) were the best among an even swag of contributors for the Kings, who became more and more dominant as the match progressed.
Perth's points tally was the lowest by any NBL team this season and the second-lowest score in the club's 36-year history
The swarming Kings defence combined with the out-of-sorts Wildcats' awful shooting (32 per cent from the field, 19 per cent three-pointers) meant the visitors were held to a measly 21 second-half points.
Perth started well enough, leading by four points midway through the opening term before three-pointerts from Cadee and Boomers guard Brad Newley saw the Kings take the edge at quarter-time, 22-19.
Derek Cooke Jnr tied the scores early in the second for Perth but the revival was brief as Perry and Cadee's perimeter prowess helped Sydney get on another roll.
American guard Bryce Cotton (14 points and five assists) dazzled briefly and helped the Wildcats peg the gap back to eight points at half-time.
The third term was all Sydney as Perry continued to prove a match-up nightmare against Perth's big men and gun point guard Jerome Randle found his range.
Leading 65-45 at three-quarter-time, the Kings kept their foot pressed on the Cat's throat in an equally lopsided final stanza.
