Kingston Heath to host World Cup of Golf

Melbourne's Kingston Heath course has been chosen to host the 2016 World Cup of Golf in November.

World No.2 Jason Day has given the Kingston Heath layout the thumbs up after its confirmation as the venue for this year's World Cup of Golf in Melbourne.

As the defending 2013 individual champion, Day will qualify automatically as the top-ranked player for Australia and will have until August to choose his partner for the tournament which has returned to a two-man format.

The event will be played from November 21-27.

In all, teams from 28 countries will tee off for an $US8 million ($A11.3 million) purse with the winning team sharing more than $US2.5 million ($A3.5 million).

"It's great that the World Cup of Golf is going to Kingston Heath," said Day. "The course has tremendous tradition and it is one of the reasons that Melbourne's sandbelt is considered home to several of the world's great golf courses."
